AVP, Construction Claims ManagerLocation: This position can be based out of any of our US Sompo office locations. • Management and oversight of 3 to 5 direct reports who handle a complex Construction casualty portfolio, inclusive of technical knowledge, legal insights, accuracy, and responsiveness and with a high degree of customer service. Portfolio includes Construction Defect, Third Party Property Damage, Bodily Injury, New York Labor Law.
• Provide coverage and analytical analysis of potential exposures and establish appropriate reserves.
• Analyze loss and expense trends on a portfolio of claims and assist in the development and implementation of plans to improve results.
• Evaluate exposures and make substantive claim decisions for Construction Casualty claims and as needed on other lines of business.What you'll bring:
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in an insurance technical claims position or at an insurance defense law firm with an emphasis on complex casualty exposures and negotiations.
  • BA/BS degree preferred. Juris Doctorate is strongly preferred.
  • Management Experience Required.
  • Insurance related professional designations/education such as CPCU, IIA & SCLA a plus.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills and ability to establish close working relationships with the underwriting team through open communication and assist with aspects of marketing.
  • Some travel required.Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
