Position Summary
The Senior Performance Programs Engineer will lead and oversee the development and execution of various motorsports engine programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring the success of the program by participating in the engineering development process, delivering on performance goals, coordinating technical resources, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of motorsport engineering and project management in a high-performance racing environment.

Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):Engine Development:

  • Participate in performance engine development programs from concept through design, testing, validation, and implementation, ensuring alignment with performance, reliability, and quality requirements.
  • Work closely within an engineering team to guide and track engine designs, manufacturing, testing protocols, and performance evaluations.
  • Manage the development roadmap, ensuring all milestones are met within the budget and timeline. Identify risks or delays early and communicate this information to the customer as well as upper management.
  • Collaborate with technical departments and vendors to source materials and components and ensure the integration of new technologies.Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with operational departments i.e. Purchasing, Manufacturing, Testing, and Engine Assembly to bring engine concepts to reality.
    • Ensure all engine programs and activities adhere to budget constraints, timelines, and quality standards.
      Performance Analysis and Reporting:
      • Develop and maintain detailed performance reports, analyzing data from testing, simulations, hardware inspections and any track events to guide future development cycles.
      • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on program progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
      • Provide concise technical updates to customers both internal and external at regular intervals.
        Qualifications
        Education & Experience:
        • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent powertrain & engineering depth of understanding
        • 7+ years of experience in powertrain engineering, design and development
        • 2+ years of customer liaison and/or team leadership experience
        • 4+ years CAD design experience
          Skills & Expertise:
          • Proven technical knowledge of engine design, development, and testing, preferably within a high performance or motorsports setting.
          • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
          • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, manage, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and technicians.
          • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
          • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present information to internal and external stakeholders.
            Additional Qualifications:
            • Candidate must possess a high degree of Honesty and Integrity
            • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
            • Willingness to travel to support engine development activities including races, testing etc.
            • Ability to work extended hours to meet tight deadlines, including weekends and holidays as needed. .
            • Strong understanding of engine development tools including 1D Simulation, CFD, FEA etc.
